Semi-Cross Spunlace Nonwoven is a type of nonwoven fabric created by hydroentanglement. In this process, water jets are emitted at high pressure and velocity from closely positioned nozzles onto a carded web of loose fibers, which then entangle, spin and curl the fibers about each other to form a cohesive web. This gives spunlace nonwovens physical properties of softness, high bulk, drapability and depending on the fiber used, aesthetics that mimic traditional knitted or woven textiles.

The two main types of spunlace are straight lay, cross and semi-cross. The difference between them lies in the laying process. Straight lays are weak in the cross direction, while crosses and semi-crosses are strong in both directions. In addition, the semi-cross laying process is more economical and produces a fabric with similar strength as the cross.

It is especially suitable for wet wipes, face towels and other sanitary products and industrial disposables. The fabric has a higher tensile strength than other spunlace fabrics and is not easy to deform after repeated use. The fabric is also resistant to pilling and is not prone to snag.
